Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #1

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 6.713/214.86, Now #1

This is the first time we have seen Knowles on the AMS Pro Mod circuit.

Left Lane: Harold Martin Runs 6.695/205.38, Now #1
Right Lane: Kirk Kuhns Runs 7.710/124.95, Now #3

Martin with ACDelco Pro Mod entry slows on the top end. Kuhns with a bang around 900 feet.

Left Lane: John Scialpi Runs 6.287/218.09, Now #2
Right Lane: Mike Bell Runs 6.283/213.10, Now #1

Scialpi skates around for the first half of the race and then got the car to settle down for a nice pass. Bell with a nice pass to go to the number one spot.

Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 6.417/221.23, Now #3
Right Lane: Zach Barklage Runs 6.552/217.84, Now #4

Both cars straight down the track, but won't be happy with the results.

Right Lane: Steve Engel Runs 6.826/166.25, Now #7

Engel is off the throttle early.

Left Lane: Dan Rowe Runs 10.432/81.42, Now #10
Right Lane: Thomas Patterson Runs 8.048/132.70, Now #9

Rowe lost traction early and clicked it off, while Patterson made it a little farther down track before he rattled and shook the tires.

Left Lane: Cody Barklage Runs 8.639/107.40, Now #10
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 20.015/59.90, Now #12

Barklage was real loose right off the starting line and pedaled it a couple times. He got real close to the centerline before he clicked it off. King's car went silent as soon as he let out the clutch.

Left Lane: Rick Stivers No Time, Now #15
Right Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 8.554/151.29, Now #10

Stivers had problems getting the car to start and was pushed off. Critchley with a lot of tire shake and was shut off by 330 feet.

Left Lane: Joshua Hernandez Runs 6.151/234.78, Now #1
Right Lane: Shelly Payne Runs 6.257/229.70, Now #2

Payne with a real nice pass, but Hernandez waited on the starting line and then blasted to the number one spot. Joshua Hernandez's incremental times: 60ft-1.029 sec., 330ft-2.701, 660ft-4.046/184.52mph, 1,000ft-5.190

Left Lane: Joey Martin Runs 6.175/232.35, Now #2
Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 13.499/78.82, Now #16

Payne with violent tire shake and shut off. Martin launched hard and keep the car hooked up. Joey Martin's incremental times: 60ft-1.033 sec., 330ft-2.704, 660ft-4.061/186.87mph, 1,000ft-5.208
