Top Fuel Round 3 Eliminations
By Dan Bennett

MOHNTON, Pa. - Results of round 3 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals:

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
3 Doug Kalitta 507 Melanie Troxel
E3 0.078 4.563 327.11 ****WINNER**** 0.090 4.518 328.70
 Prior rounds:
E2 (H Will ) 0.190 4.534 329.02 (R Fuller ) 0.092 4.536 325.53
E1 (L Novelli ) 0.072 4.543 325.53 (L Dixon ) 0.109 4.576 320.81
 Qualified: #2 4.488 321.88 #11 4.566 319.37
For the Troxel camp, you have to believe that the day is proceeding exactly according to plan.

Melanie has taken direct control of her destiny. She's up against someone higher than her in the points and a real thorn in her team's side.

The consistency seems to be back and Mel is going rounds. This was a classic race with both cars on strong, clean passes.

For the first time since early in the year, Melanie is going to the finals.

Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.128, 660ft-3.056/269.56mph, 1,000ft-3.841

Weather conditions: air temperature 65 degrees, relative humidity 53 percent, barometer 29.63 inches, adjusted altitude 925 feet, track temperature 90 degrees.

 Qualified: #8 4.549 324.98 #5 4.533 326.95
This is another great matchup.

Todd's young reflexes take care of the starting line and that's really all it took.

Grubnic's pass was smooth and clean, but didn't get the job done today.

J.R. will have lane choice against Melanie Troxel in the final.

I think the very likeable kid hsa just locked up the Rookie award.
