Pro Stock Round 2 Eliminations
By Dan Bennett

MOHNTON, Pa. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals:

This is a great matchup of two racers known for their starting line skill.

Martino pulls right to the prestage line and waits for Edwards.

Edwards takes his time to carefully prestage as Martino waits patiently.

They both roll in pretty much together.

Martino pushes it a bit too closely and turns on the red light.

Edwards will be back in the semis.

These guys have known to cut a light, too.

Elliott has the PiranaZ car dialed in so far. Stanfield leaves on AJ and leads from foot #1 to foot #1320.

With these great performances, it's almost a shame that somebody has to lose.

We were betting on a redlight, but it didn't happen.

Though Connolly left first, as the cars passed half track we wondered if that was enough.

Line just sent a message to his boss about who's REALLY the big guy and resets the record. Once more, we've just seen a racer go faster than anyone else in the long history of the class.

Of course, Greg is watching all this from next in line and I bet he'll have something to say.

Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.757, 660ft-4.244/165.66mph, 1,000ft-5.527

Greg moves in and lights the prestage. KJ follows.

Greg lights his second bulb. KJ doesn't move and starter Rick Stewart begins counting down with his right hand. As he reaches 7, KJ bumps in.

Well, sometimes the best plans don't work out - in either lane.

KJ leaves too soon, and Greg crosses the finish line too late. Sure, he wins the race but his right hand man Line hangs on to the record for at least another round.

People are going to be talking about this event for a long time.

In the semifinals it's Greg Anderson (the slowest car on his team) with lane choice over Mike Edwards and Jason Line (the baddest cat on the lot) choosing over Greg Stanfield (the baddest cat on the lot until a couple minutes ago)

National records are dropping like flies, the sun's shining, and it's a great fall day.

Wish you were here.
