Right Lane: Keith Falconer Runs 8.160/183.97, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.971/208.33, Was #8
8:48 p.m. The two A/Fuel cars led off the round - at least one fo them will run in eliminations tomorrow.
through with a great run for an A/Fueler at this altitude, Falconer dropped a cylinder or more at the hit and the car was once again
very slow coming off the starting line. Verenka will be in eliminations tomorrow, Falconer is first alternate.
Left Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 4.965/245.40, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.074/172.08, Was #8
Right Lane: Mitch King Runs 9.557/92.02, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.403/237.17, Was #6
Karamesines needed to beat Falconer's 5.442 to move up in the order.
The Greek droped some cylinders on the top end,
killing his speed, but he got into the fours to move way up in the order, right into a possible first-round match with the #1
qualifier. King struggled early, spinning the tires, and shut it off before half track.
Left Lane: Rick Cooper Runs 5.341/211.83, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.945/256.06, Was #4
Right Lane: Bobby Lagana Jr. Runs 5.960/148.77, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.099/224.21, Was #6
Both drivers had good-looking runs earlier, but with short fuses, their engines silent way before the finish line.
Both cars launched, smoked the tires, and pedaled. Lagana lost the blower belt, Cooper did not, but he lost traction again
on the top end.
Left Lane: Bruce Litton Runs 5.913/156.64, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.765/304.94, Was #2
Litton's car started to run, then immediately went silent before it started cackling. The crew backed it off and the second attempt was successful.
Litton left hard and appeared to be on a good run, but the car started losing traction at half
track, then dropped several cylinders and he shut it off.
Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.672/313.58, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.639/303.64, Was #1
Right Lane: Doug Foley Runs 5.261/197.10, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.843/264.96, Was #3
Last pair. Millican's two runs have been the two quickest of qualifying, Foley has not been able to get a full pass in the books so far.
Foley dropped a cylinder immediately, then the rear of his car stepped out violently at half track, almost taking him across the centerline. Meanwhile, Millican added a third quick run to his list for the weekend, all three of his runs quicker than Bruce Litton's second-place 4.765 and this one the fastest of the weekend.
That's it, Millican will face a racing
legend, Chris karamesines, in the first round tomorrow.
