Nitro Bikes Qualifying Notes, Final Session

EDMONTON, Alb. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Nitro Bikes at the 2006 eMax Drag Racing Series, CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Racing Fuels listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Brian Hall Runs 7.385/190.59, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.940/201.61, Was #5
Right Lane: Robert Smith Runs 7.044/207.02, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.959/198.44, Was #6

8:17 p.m. Ken Kent is on the bump spot at 7.208.

Both bikes struggled to get down the track, the engines laboring. No help, no change.

Left Lane: Andy Beauchemin Runs 7.156/197.08, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.848/202.58, Was #2
Right Lane: Jody York Runs 6.652/204.35, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.876/174.62, Was #3

Beauchemin also failed to improve, but York made a very nice run , best of the weekend for the category, taking over the top spot in the order.

Left Lane: Ken Kent Runs 7.113/199.82, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.208/196.44, Was #8
Right Lane: Kevin Boyer Runs 8.537/109.79, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.903/201.97, Was #4

Boyer's engine started making rude noises at half track. Kent improved by almost a tenth, stayed eighth.

Left Lane: Jim Schellenberg Runs 9.287/136.00, Now #9; Best prior run: 8.212/150.73, Was #9
Right Lane: George Welch Runs 7.156/165.09, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.008/200.92, Was #7

Schellenberg was the only rider with a chance to bump Kent. His bike picked up the front wheel and headed for the centerline, forcing him to shut it down. Welch also failed to improve, but he will get to race tomorrow anyway.

Left Lane: Mike Scott Runs 6.682/209.26, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.789/208.30, Was #2

Nice run by Scott, improving by a tenth, but he came up three hundredths short of the #1 spot. He also went into the sand at the end of the strip.
