By Larry Sullivan

EDMONTON, Alb. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Knoll Gas - Torco Racing Fuels Nitro Funny Car at the 2006 eMax Drag Racing Series, CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Racing Fuels listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Gary Cooper Runs 9.925/88.63, Now #5; Best prior run: 8.678/97.86, Was #5
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 8.068/104.58, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.003/308.50, Was #2

5:33 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 33 percent, barometer 28.15 inches, adjusted altitude 3,477 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

Jason Duchene is on the bump spot at 31.572.

Lots of tire shake and then smoke, Cooper very close to the wall.

Left Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 7.144/127.03, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.590/120.08, Was #4

Creasy started off strong, got to about 300 feet, then violently lost traction, fishtailing several times.

Left Lane: Jack Wyatt Runs 5.212/260.46, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.243/163.61, Was #3

Wyatt made a smooth, clean run, right down the groove. The car slowed on the top end, but picked up more than a second over his first run - and stayed put in the order. For now.

Apparently the other four cars elected to sit this one out, saving their "stuff" for the "Night of Fire."
