GRAND BEND, Ont. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Alcohol Funny Car at the 2006 eMax Drag Racing Series, Mopar Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol:

377 Paul Noakes 100 Terry Munroe
E1 0.085 5.989 240.12 ****WINNER**** 0.156 5.846 239.23
 Qualified: #5 5.968 238.85 #1 5.802 240.83
12:48 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 57 percent, barometer 29.53 inches, adjusted altitude 1,579 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.

Noakes tried an old trick, blipping the throttle after they staged, possibly distracting Munroe enough for Noakes to get a big starting line advantage. However, Munroe still had the muscle to take the early lead and pull away for the win, so another #1-qualifier advances.

6 Terry McMillen 3 Mark Thomas
E1 0.033 5.972 237.65 ****WINNER**** 0.069 5.853 244.96
 Qualified: #6 5.968 237.65 #2 5.862 244.69
McMillen had the early lead, Thomas losing some additional ground with early tire shake, but he recovered and ran McMillen down by half track, then edged ahead for the win. Mark Thomas' incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.024), 330 ft(-0.015), 660ft(0.022), 1,000ft(0.055). MOV: 0.0833 seconds (approximately 29 feet).

147 Frederick Tigges 1 Rob Atchison
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.055 5.818 244.10 0.068 7.827 111.95
 Qualified: #7 6.033 237.84 #3 5.887 246.57
Atchison launched into severe shake, the car lurching and bouncing violently. Big upset win by Tigges and his run was good enough to earn lane choice against Munroe in the semifinals.

293 Larry Dobbs 6320 Trevor Lebsack
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.051 6.070 223.76 0.110 6.153 230.47
 Qualified: #8 6.089 231.18 #4 5.935 236.59
Lebsack's car shook and danced on the launch and that let Dobbins get away for the win. However, he was not quick enough to get lane choice against Thomas in the semifinals.
