POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 41st annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals:

This is Thomas' 102nd start. Pawuk holds a 6-1 record against Thomas.

Stevens won here in '98 and is 2-2 against Gaines. This is Gaines' 101st start.

Gaines had the better light, but his car bogged a bit on the launch and Stevens led the rest of the way.. Richie Stevens' MOV: 0.1255 seconds (approximately 33 feet).

Anderson holds a 14-11 edge against WJ. This is only the 46th time WJ has started in the bottom half of the field.

WJ's car made a couple extra moves early in the run and that was about all Anderson needed to take the lead for good. Greg Anderson's incremental margins: 60ft(0.012), 330 ft(0.030), 660ft(0.038), 1,000ft(0.037). MOV: 0.0359 seconds (approximately 11 feet). He will have lane choice against Coughlin next round.

Connolly's car appeared to be down on power lately, but they found a problem with one of the shocks. Smith was runner-up here in 1996. Connolly holds a 5-1 record against Smith.

Smith did his thing here, taking a four-hundredths edge at the start and hanging on for the win. Rickie Smith's incremental margins: 60ft(0.035), 330 ft(0.040), 660ft(0.038), 1,000ft(0.036). MOV: 0.0349 seconds (approximately 10 feet). He will not have lane choice against KJ next round.

This is Line's fourth #1 qualifier of his career, second this year. He was runner-up at this event last year. Panella is a three-time Pro Stock Truck champion and this is the first time he's qualified #16.

Panella got a small edge at the start, he needed a big one. Jason Line's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.018), 330 ft(-0.007), 660ft(0.003), 1,000ft(0.009). MOV: 0.0126 seconds (approximately 4 feet). Line will have lane choice against Pawuk in the second round.

This is Enders' 13th start and her best qualifying spot. She was quickest in three of the four Pro Stock qualifying sessions. This is Martino's first start since Gainesville in 2003, his 114th start overall, and he is deadly at the starting line.

Martino got five hundredths at the start and then held off Enders' worst run of the weekend, but even her best of the weekend would not have been enough. Martino faces Stevens next round and Stevens has lane choice.
