Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jack Wyatt Runs 5.099/282.60, Now #17; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 28.37 inches, adjusted altitude 2,851 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Wyatt making his first pass of the weekend and was mixing up the cylinders a little around mid-track.


Left Lane: David Benjamin Runs 5.224/300.33, Now #18; Best prior run: 14.486/87.97, Was #22
Right Lane: Stephen Neese Runs 8.180/100.64, Now #22; No Prior Run

Neese has problems early and shuts it off. Benjamin keep it hitting on all eight all the way down the 1320.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 4.817/324.98, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.951/123.67, Was #21
Right Lane: Frank Pedregon Runs 7.302/121.11, Now #22; Best prior run: 10.084/80.40, Was #23

Pedregon starts to shake the tires and got out the groove and clicked it off. Force with a good looking pass to go to the number two spot from outside the show. That will bump out Densham.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.829/322.81, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.312/207.85, Was #20
Right Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 5.115/281.48, Now #20; Best prior run: 5.699/174.39, Was #21

Creasy Jr. got out of the groove on the top end real close to the wall. Wilkerson with a great looking pass to get into the top half of the show. That will bump out Haddock and put Tony Bartone on the bump spot at 4.971.

Left Lane: Gary Densham Runs 4.834/318.32, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.019/244.78, Was #18
Right Lane: Phil Burkart Runs 4.955/307.51, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.915/298.67, Was #15

Densham with great pass and blasted into the top half of the show, and that will bump out Bartone. Burkart will not improve with this run and will stay on the bubble.

Left Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 5.338/214.14, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.998/304.80, Was #18
Right Lane: Jim Head Runs 4.893/323.04, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.902/312.78, Was #15

Haddock was mixing up cylinders and clicked it off early. Head with another good pass.

Left Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 6.998/124.67, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.971/303.43, Was #17
Right Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.800/325.22, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.884/322.19, Was #13

Bartone loses traction early and clicks it off early. Worsham launched hard and keep it hooked up all the way down the 1320 for the number one spot.

Left Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.780/322.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.890/313.44, Was #14
Right Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.763/325.77, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.862/318.09, Was #9

This was a great looking side by side drag race for the number one and two spots. Tony Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.909 sec., 330ft-2.310, 660ft-3.282/260.91mph, 1,000ft-4.089
Tommy Johnson Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.900 sec., 330ft-2.300, 660ft-3.273/262.28mph, 1,000ft-4.076

Left Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 4.830/323.27, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.879/318.32, Was #14
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 4.775/327.35, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.860/317.34, Was #10

Hight with a good looking pass, straight down the groove and to the number two spot. Robert Hight's incremental times: 60ft-0.912 sec., 330ft-2.314, 660ft-3.289/260.86mph, 1,000ft-4.092 Bazemore with a nice pass.

Left Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 4.804/319.14, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.870/320.05, Was #14
Right Lane: Bob Gilbertson Runs 12.670/83.16, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.839/318.77, Was #11

Gilbertson lost traction right off the starting line and clicked it off. Ashley with another great looking pass. Mike Ashley's incremental times: 60ft-0.900 sec., 330ft-2.309, 660ft-3.288/258.81mph, 1,000ft-4.104

Left Lane: Eric Medlen Runs 4.782/323.50, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.869/313.80, Was #14
Right Lane: Gary Scelzi Runs 4.776/327.90, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.824/324.12, Was #8

This was another great looking side by side drag race. Eric Medlen's incremental times: 60ft-0.903 sec., 330ft-2.311, 660ft-3.288/262.18mph, 1,000ft-4.092
Gary Scelzi's incremental times: 60ft-0.916 sec., 330ft-2.327, 660ft-3.292/262.90mph, 1,000ft-4.093

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.817/323.27, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.866/318.09, Was #14
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.838/323.50, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.809/322.19, Was #8

Cruz with another good clean pass, but will not improve. Capps moves up the ladder four spots.
