LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Stu Sandhaus Runs 7.219/182.80/-0.451, Now #39; A/ND Index: 7.67, Prior Best: 7.282/183.54/-0.388, Was #45
Right Lane: Tina Stull Runs 8.733/153.74/-0.517, Now #32; D/SMA Index: 9.25, Prior Best: 8.727/152.80/-0.523, Was #32

2:30 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 32 percent, barometer 28.40 inches, adjusted altitude 3,220 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Tina Stull is on the bump spot at -0.523. Sandhaus made his best run of the weekend, it wasn't good enough. Stull failed to improve and will have to sweat out the rest of the round on the bubble.

Once again Gebhardt's dragster was a handfull and she ahd to lift. Smith failed to improve.

Eddie Smith's car was slow from the start. Crimmins made a huge improvement from his first two runs, still came up short.

Both drivers appeared to be out of the throttle well before the line, not unusual for drivers who are already solidly in the field.

Desa was out of the throttle before half track.

No help for either dribver, Kalkowski may make it in as an alternate.

Mihovetz got the turbocharged Cougar hooked up and the engine singing to bump into the field on a nice run. Sumek made his best run of the weekend, but it was not quick enough. Bill Morse is on the bump spot at -0.533.

Goodruns, just a few ticks slower than their best.

Ackerman was unable to fire the car and was pulled back to the pits. Morse failed to improve and now he gets to sweat things out on "the bubble."
