Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Scott Kalitta Runs 4.591/324.90, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.570/321.88, Was #9
Right Lane: Tim Gibson Runs 13.807/78.47, Now #18; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 25 percent, barometer 29.89 inches, adjusted altitude 1,587 feet, track temperature 99 degrees.

Kalitta with a good looking pass, but will not improve. Gibson lost traction right off the starting line.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 12.850/73.95, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.846/116.55, Was #17
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 12.614/84.89, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.509/320.81, Was #6

Both of them are up in smoke3 right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Joe Hartley Runs 11.792/89.88, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.358/134.39, Was #16
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 4.561/320.66, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.635/327.74, Was #10

Hartley blistered the tires right off the starting line. Cory Mac launched hard and keep the Goodyears stuck for his best pass this weekend.

Left Lane: Bill Ancona Runs 9.408/87.10, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.214/218.65, Was #15
Right Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 4.553/326.16, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.493/328.94, Was #4

Ancona launched into a big wheelstand and clicked it off. Fuller running really consistent this weekend with another nice pass.

Left Lane: Scott Weis Runs 11.681/90.45, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.906/234.09, Was #14
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.773/243.59, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.518/328.94, Was #8

Weis loses traction right off the starting line and clicks it off. Kalitta's engine starts eating itself up around half track and we have oil on the track.

Left Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.822/245.67, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.636/305.08, Was #11
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 6.573/117.91, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.474/332.02, Was #3

Schumacher started to haze the tires early and clicked it off. Beckman was on a good run until around 900 feet when he started drifting out of the groove and got real close to the centerline.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 4.544/313.00, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.514/329.34, Was #7
Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 6.754/116.88, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.458/328.86, Was #2

Troxel started to haze the tires around 300 feet and Dixon's engine was eating itself up starting around 1000 feet.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.594/311.85, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.494/328.62, Was #5
Right Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 6.097/135.65, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.441/328.06, Was #1

Herbert started to lose traction around 400 feet and clicked off. Bernstein with a nice clean pass.
