Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Final Session

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Brandon Pierce Runs 5.568/253.85, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.624/213.74, Was #8
Right Lane: Carl Magee Runs 5.870/243.77, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.662/251.11, Was #9

Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 43 percent, barometer 29.90 inches, adjusted altitude 179 feet, track temperature 74 degrees.

Magee had a hole out on the right side from the hit. Pierce improves, but not enough to move up the ladder.


Left Lane: James Thompson Runs 5.260/270.70, Now #2; Best prior run: 14.638/70.66, Was #15
Right Lane: Lee Callaway Runs 5.394/261.32, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.536/258.22, Was #7

Thompson with a great pass straight down the groove. This is a career E.T. pass for Thompson. Callaway also with a career best pass, he ran his quickest and fastest pass ever.

Left Lane: David Brounkowski Runs 17.094/51.80, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.428/256.36, Was #7
Right Lane: John Haley Runs 14.182/68.90, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.047/167.91, Was #13

Haley with problems right off the starting line and coasted on through the 1320. Brounkowski with problems right off the starting line, but he hit the throttle a couple more times.

Left Lane: Gene Snow Runs 14.343/58.50, Now #15; Best prior run: 14.068/49.63, Was #15
Right Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 5.419/263.77, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.755/256.70, Was #12

Snow was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Thacker with a nice looking pass to move into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 5.335/251.16, Now #5; Best prior run: 12.459/59.00, Was #14
Right Lane: Joe Windham Runs 5.277/269.62, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.406/266.90, Was #6

Windham with a great pass and this is his quickest and fastest pass ever. Meyer with a nice pass to get into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Ashley Force Runs 5.317/268.22, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.349/268.12, Was #6
Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.283/267.48, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.444/268.01, Was #10

This was a pretty good looking drag race with Shields run his quickest pass of the season.

Left Lane: James Day Runs 5.881/242.98, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.704/256.50, Was #13
Right Lane: Aaron Olivarez Runs 5.249/273.22, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.261/272.50, Was #3

Olivarez who had gotten bumped back to the number three spot regains the number one spot with a good clean pass. This is the quickest pass he has ever made. Aaron Olivarez's incremental times: 60ft-0.917 sec., 330ft-2.373, 660ft-3.489/223.99mph, 1,000ft-4.436

Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 5.332/272.94, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.254/273.94, Was #1

Torrence with a nice pass.
